Halo Refuser

Halo Refuser is the outer-space brainchild of virtuoso keyboardist/producer Asher Fulero (an anagram, re-arrange the letters to see). In this exotic distant world, futuristic beats and otherworldly textures combine with crushing basslines for a psychedelic dance experience that feeds both brain and body.
Endorsed by Moog Synthesizers (for whom he also acts as an occasional clinician), Fulero uses a laundry-list of modern production techniques to achieve all sorts of sonic bastardization and then re-warps it from within Ableton Live. The result is somewhere between Dub, Glitch, Trip-hop, Drum-n-Bass, and IDM, all without falling into the obvious style-traps or living too long in one place.
Halo Refuser began by releasing three EP’s for download, all 100% free. The first, entitled ‘Hear Ourself’ (also an anagram for Fulero’s name), was released in July 2009. Then in July 2010 he followed up with the ‘Lumbering (Single+Remixes)’ EP, which features contributions from talented producers Graintable, Solovox, Plumblyne, Auditory Sculpture, and Beartrap Mind. Finally, in February 2011 he released the third free EP, ‘Dreamscape Chronicle’, which was comprised of two long-form dance pieces.
This series of EPs was followed up by the June 2011 release of his full-length debut CD, ‘Ambigrammatic’, which features appearances from UK-drum legend KJ Sawka (Pendulum) as well as a collaboration with fellow PDX producer The Great Mundane. The limited-edition CD sports a mind-boggling Ambigram logo that reads ‘Halo Refuser’ but when flipped upside down clearly reads ‘Asher Fulero’; an anagram AND an ambigram. Continuing his epic output for the year, in September 2011 Halo Refuser was featured by the groundbreaking NYC label Global Vortex Records, which released his bass-heavy track, ‘Liberty Persists’ as a special 9/11 Tribute.
In April 2012, his single ‘The Lookout’ was released by Seattle’s Innerflight label as a part of their Left Coast Sampler Vol. 3, and he is currently finishing another EP+Remixes release for them this fall.
Halo Refuser has shared bills with established electronic innovators like Bluetech, Rena Jones, EOTO, Big Gigantic, R/D, Gaslamp Killer, KJ Sawka, Mike Slott, and many more as well festival appearances and radio/podcast performances.
